The last section knocked me out. You are simply magnificent ❤️‍🔥

That makes me so happy! That’s exactly what I hoped for (preparation). 💘 It does suck but it’s fast. Nothing you can’t handle. Thank you, my love 🥹 and thank you for seeing me. The greatest gift you can bestow upon another!

Ah ah, the photo of a grenade is a so good choice ;)) !! (and poor cat ?! )

Yes, poor kitties. Those cat pictures are the epitome of cats catting 😭😂

Your kitty-boob comparisons are so freaking hilarious.

Congrats on surviving this milestone. You faced the dread with a graceful, comedic perspective and that is so good on our trauma nerves!

They made me laugh too. So accurate. 😂

Thank you , Kimberly!!! The best on our trauma nerves! I laughed my way through childhood, adolescence, and still going strong today. It is truly the best medicine.

I loved this — mostly because the process is uncomfortable but really NOT SO BAD. Even those of us without the depth of loss you have experienced want to avoid this chore, but we shouldn’t. Thank you for reminding me I’m due :)

I agree! Not so bad, just unpleasant and it is over in a flash! EVERYONE wanting to avoid this chore made me feel so much better about it. I love women, I love how we gather around one another when needed and become pillars of support.

So happy it served as a reminder ❤️

This was nice to read because I don’t always know what’s going on in your head. I’m proud you pushed through something that was difficult for you. Something you’d normally want to stay far away from. It’s important to demystify things like this too. I’m obviously not getting yearly mammograms but I’m confident this is important for people who share a similar disdain for procedures like this. I’m always interested in hearing about what it was like getting things like prostate exams from my buddies because I’m really not looking forward to starting those up. I’ve got a few more years before that’ll become a yearly routine. I like to know how much things are going to suck so I can brace for impact accordingly. When I got the tattoo on my foot the artist kept saying “this is going to be interesting” and I was driving me fucking crazy. I’d rather hear “this is going to hurt like bloody hell”. Sometimes in preparing for the worst I discover that it’s not as bad as I was expecting, and then it seems easy. That’s just how my brain works though. I have a proposal, we should plan our yearly unpleasant exams on the same day then go on a lunch date and fuq it up at a Dairy Queen afterwards to celebrate. 🎉

I'm the same. GIVE IT TO ME STRAIGHT.

Good job, Jenovia! Thank you for sharing your journey to get here, both physically and emotionally. You did it!!! 🙌🏻👏🏻

I’ll be calling my doc next week to schedule my first one. Thanks for the nudge. I needed that.

Thank you, Heather!!!! Sharing it helped relieve the anxiety and dread. Also, the actual act needs to be talked about more. No one had ever shared with me personally what a mammogram was like...which when I think about it is so odd. I've only heard things in passing on tv. I just never thought to ask or think about it until it was on my lap.

So PROUD of you for booking it!!!!

After our last comment exchange change — about following through with healthcare procedures we know we need to do — I was very glad to read about you following through with this procedure.

Also, your story telling is fantastic, it was super easy to follow along with everything that was happening. :)

Thank you, Michael! I wanted to keep it as simple and straightforward as possible, so your comment made me really happy. 🙏

I'm glad it wasn't painful for long! I didn't get nipple covers, those are kinda cool.

The nipple covers were so hilarious and cute!

Congrats Jenovia! You should be proud! I appreciate you demystifying the mammogram—as always, in your wonderful storytelling voice. I work in a cancer center and still stress out getting my annual mammogram. But I do it because I know screening will increase my chances overall for a better health outcome. Encouraging each other can turn into lives saved. Thank you!

Thank you, Daphne!! It is nerve wracking, especially the first time. I'm proud of you too! Maintaining care for ourselves, especially when it isn't the most pleasant of experiences is no small task. 🙏❤️

As a pretty flat chested gal, I really find this all to be medieval torture. Would men let their penises be squeezed between these machines, oh hell no. There's gotta be a better kinder way for the ladies already!

Exactly!!!! Thank you. I told the technician the same.
