Your web is always heaven!!! I’m obsessed with our Gabor streak!

I finished Presumed Innocent last night and omg…and then I musical started playing automatically, so I went with it. The good kind go whiplash.

I started reading Ripe and I don’t know that a book has ever hooked me so hard so soon. On the first page she describe feeling exhausted beyond repair as “being pulped.” 💥💥💥

Yay! I'm so happy you enjoy it. 🥰

Adding Ripe to the TBR! That cover alone 😍

OMG is right at Presumed Innocent. Apparently there will be a Season 2!! Extremely curious where they will take the story. EEEEeeeek!

Me too! But I also read that they might do different storylines for each season, like True Detective!

Ouuu JUICY. That would be so fun.

Ugh… 52 still? 😖

You are so right. Sam Reid IS Lestat. He’s so so so good in this role and I want him to read me a bedtime story in that accent and deep voice.

Same! Really wish Anne Rice could have seen him in action, she would have wept! His singing voice is SO good. It makes me want to re-read The Vampire Chronicles ASAP. Season 3 can't come soon enough!

I'm just loving your loathing of the heat. And I GET IT because suddenly NY is... Georgia? I just went out walking with the baby strapped to me and the humidity burst into a summer rainstorm--the kind I only remember from way down south. But I don't know there's something so romantic about you having raspberry jam all over your mouth in this drippy, sticky heat.

The humidity has been crrrrasssssy. Love it for my skin but not so much for my mood. I like breathing.

Raspberry doughnut delight was quite the sight and so much fun. Still dreaming about that damn doughnut 😂

The donut! Ughhhh. Fuck that thing but also damn it for being so good. I’m very glad to hear that donut made such an impression on you and that interaction. Human interactions like that remind me I like people more than I choose to interact with them. “Can I have a bite” I think she would’ve bitten the donut if we really let her…. I was thinking about the donut last night and a few times since we had it. Thoughts like “damn why doesn’t anyone in our town make donuts like that” and also “probs best that kinda donut isn’t within arms reach because I’d become very soft and donut like. Maybe even raspberry filled” Definitely best left to be a reward for jaunts into the dense summer heat and the chaos that is the streets of NYC.

I don’t blame her asking for a bite. That doughnut was downright seductive. 😏

Always love your web. I am with you - summer is my least favorite season. I like the edges of the season - when days are in the 70s. But these edges feel like they’re going away due to climate change.

I love the edges too 😭 The only thing I miss about living in Los Angeles. They do seem to be disappearing as each year passes and it is horrifying. Spring and fall feel shorter and shorter.

Isabella Ducrot is incredible! Thank you for putting her on my radar. And thank you for reminding me I need a raspberry donut. 🍩

She is such an inspiration, I’m so glad you enjoyed that article. The whole time I was reading it I was yelling, YES!

It’s an honor to offer my book recs to you every week! Thanks for the love ☺️

I’ve been spending too much time on Pinterest and now I believe my life’s purpose is to live somewhere perpetually in fall.

Beetlejuice and Edwards Scissorhands scared the crap out of me when I was a child. I think once I had a dream where Beetlejuice had scissorhands. *shudders*

But then I saw them as an adult and was like "Oh. Yeah this isn't so bad."

Those were some of my favorites as a child. Love the difference in experiences! It’s so fascinating what speaks to us and what doesn’t when we are young and then when we grow up.

Your Holly Golightly, "Breakfast at Tiffany's" reference to the "Mean Reds" is the second I've heard this week, Jenovia! A member of my writing group has used it in a chapter we critiqued on Saturday--she wondered if it wasn't too obscure, since none of us had ever heard it before.

And now, here it is again! #synchronicity

All thanks to Truman Capote, the writer of Breakfast at Tiffany’s. I love when synchronicity pops up like that. ❤️‍🔥😍
